Explore the Many Wonders of Vienna

The Imperial Palace
There are many famous buildings in the historic city of Vienna, but the Imperial Palace is no doubt one of the most famous and most recognizable. The Imperial Palace includes not only the palace itself but a fine art museum, a military history museum and even a castle. Visitors should leave plenty of time for wandering the grounds of this beautiful palace and imagining what life was like in old Vienna.

St. Stephen’s Cathedral
Vienna is known for its many beautiful houses of worship, and St. Stephen’s is one of the most popular as well as one of the most striking. Visitors to St. Stephen’s Cathedral can get in touch with their spiritual side while learning a little bit about the rich history of the city. Those planning a visit to St. Stephens should be sure to book a tour of the catacombs that lie beneath the church. After the catacombs have been thoroughly explored, those visitors can climb one of the towers for a spectacular view of the city and some great photo opportunities.

Schonbrunn Palace
While the Schonbrunn Palace is outside the borders of Vienna, it is well worth a visit. Visitors can easily access the palace using convenient and inexpensive public transportation, and the palace and its surrounding grounds are well worth a look. The gardens are spectacular, and for many visitors they are the highlight of the trip.

The State Opera House
Vienna is of course known for its fine operas, both classic works and modern masterpieces. Any opera fan visiting the city should try to get a seat for one of the many fine performances taking place in this world class city. For those not attending a live performance there are a number of guided tours designed to show visitors the splendor of this artistic masterpiece.

Naschmarkt
No trip would be complete without a day of shopping, and visitors to Vienna can shop till they drop at the Naschmarkt. This giant outdoor marketplace is a favorite stop for visitors and locals alike, and it is a must see attraction for any first time visitor to Vienna.

St. Augustine’s Church
St. Augustine’s Church is another favorite house of worship in this great city. This beautiful church is known to visitors and locals alike for its wonderful sacred music, and visitors to Vienna should be sure to ask about opportunities to hear these sacred sounds.

Stadtpark
Vienna is a city full of green spaces, and visitors should be sure to take some time to relax in one of the city’s many beautiful parks. Stadtpark is one of the most popular of these urban parks, and it is a favorite with locals as well as tourists. Any first time visitor to Stadtpark should be sure to check out the statue of Johann Strauss that stands in its center.

The Clock Museum
Austrian society is well known for its timeliness and attention to detail, and these attributes are on display at the Uhrenmuseum, or Clock Museum. This highly specialized museum features an amazing array of timepieces from Austria and around the world, and it is well worth a visit.

Belvedere Palace
Belvedere Palace was the former home of the Prince of Savoy, and this remarkable home is actually two palaces in one. One of the palaces is now home to the Museum of Medieval Austrian Art, while the second houses the Austrian Gallery.

The Kapuziner Crypt
The Kapuzinergruft, or Kapuziner Crypt, is a fascinating step back in history for any visitor. This unique attraction serves as the final resting place of much of the famous Hapsburg dynasty. The Kapuzinergruft lies beneath the Church of St. Mary of the Angels, and the church is certainly worth a visit as well. Visitors to the crypt should be sure to reserve some time to visit this beautiful holy place as well.
