-In Eisenstadt, we visit the Esterhazy palace. It was constructed in the late 13th century, and came under ownership of the Hungarian Esterhazy family in 1622. Under Prince Esterházy Paul I the estate was converted into a baroque castle which remained the principal residence and center of administration of the family for over 300 years. The exterior of palace is U-shaped - wings and ceremonial stairway sweep up to a three-storey Baroque facade, whose distinctive rich ochre colour has recently been repainted a rather more sombre grey.
